Living In Yellow: Hues To Thwart The Arabian Heat
The British Summertime ends this week but my summer sun remains here in Dubai. I’m spending a week here in the city of sand. Dealing with the sweltering heat and dressing accordingly to outdoor temperatures of 35 and indoor temperatures of every building and mode of transport with code alert: air conditioning! Most of the time I opted for very cool, loose clothing made of linen, cotton and silk, but it was still always a good idea to walk around with a cardigan, jacket or my trusted pashmina (pictured) even when inside my gorgeous hotel The Atana.
The Pull & Bear jumpsuit was an impulsive buy as I had been eyeing up the jumpsuit for quite some time over the summer, in hopes that it would enter the sale. However that was not the case, so it somehow ended up in my basket. Supersoft and comfortable that I love the striped print, culottes shape and the length is perfect — especially for petites!
I think my other favourite item in this look is the bag! I was after a cross body bag and luckily New Look saw me coming! I’m all for colour blocking this season and with the top flap adjustable shoulder strap and push lock, this chic design is a style hit for a girl on the go. It was perfect for my strolls down to the local supermarket and venturing out to the malls. Snatched this bag up in the sale but it’s recently gone back to full price (it’s still reasonable) however I don’t feel it’s going to be around for much longer - so grab it before it goes!
The pashmina is something new for me! Worn by many women in Dubai and I can see why this heavenly scarf proves to be so popular. Upon visiting one of my personal highlights from the trip, Barastie Beach, I was able to add to my rainbow coloured wardrobe of pashminas where a local stall holder in the markets picked it out for me. I was really opened minded about it! Buying a scarf that costs way more than the cheaper ones I can always buy at home. However, when trying it on I thought it looked great to layer up, the quality was lush and I adored how it subtly sweept around my neck and featured the frayed edges. It made me think about wanting to wear more scarves with more of my looks at home.
I also needed to add comfy sandals to accompany the look. A pair of H&M imitation suede with an adjustable strap around the heel and a braided jute trim around the sole. Topped it off with my favourite pair of sunnies from American Eagle - these Torte Bar Top sunglasses were my ultimate favourite, they feel sturdier than most top of the range pairs. They stand out and look great with the yellow and brown colours in this look.
My chosen statement piece featured a white panelled necklace from Australian store Valley Girl.
